They still can rock. Maybe hanging out with the band at Skinny’s backstage wine spread clouded my mind (that or the acid) but this time the sonic melt-down sorely missed at the abortive Webster Hall show was in full effect. Heavy duty Blind Man encore, Creep in the Cellar, Bong Song, Negro Observer with Gibby on sax… Good show!
excellent!!!!!!!!!!

Gibby plays the solos in "To Parter" and "Tornadoes" that he had ditched on all the other 2008 shows. He shredded them too!...

The reviews role in, with vets & tyros agreeing that this was a killer show. Unofficial/official archivist the Anal Obsessive says: An amazing show on Friday...They were on fire!!
Big thanks especially to King, Paul and Jeffrey, who nearly killed me with kindness and laughter.
Who knows how much longer this is gonna last. We at least have two more shows to look forward to...hopefully 2009 will give us a bunch more. Either way, the last 6 months of Butthole Surfers shows have been totally magical. Large crowds, lots of old and new friends and that old electricity back in the air...
Also points to Brooklyn Vegan report. with lots of photos.
My best laugh was when Skinny and a couple other of us came climbing back through the window from prepping on the fire escape just as the last of the band’s entourage were vacating and one says “who’re those guys?” and another says “Oh, that’s the sommelier.”
just talked wine for a while with Mr Gibby today, they said the SF shows are gonna rck, different light shows each nite and maybe a BAM show, thats where it all began for me in 89
