World's scariest job? I couldn't even finish watching the video.
Holy shit. It was actually making me sick to watch. (I'm so phobic, I can't even stand on the third rung of a ladder)
Me too. When he goes from inside the cage to the smaller more exposed ladder I had to turn it off. Does he make it to the top?
Yes and then he climbs w/o safety ties because it's faster. He just attaches in order to rest. It's the jerky camera work that tortures me.
The "anchors" are sketchy. The clip could slip off. With a second climber, they could belay each other, but it would be slower to continually set and clear protection. I could probably do it with proper protection (he says knowing the opportunity will never arise). Without protection, NFW.
BTW, falling on protection would suck badly, because there are so many exposed things to hit, unlike a typical rock face.
ouch, down must be even worse....
I totally freaked out this summer taking a ski lift on mt hood w/ a 40+ foot drop, unattached, no snow/ski's, my son next to me
Notice that the horizon remains at eye level throughout the climb.
