howd they plow these streets?
heres part of the equation but....
I remember the winter of 1994 by Feb 13th (my first anno w/ Linda) we were taken to cellebrate at River Cafe, and I scored us a front table looking at the massive (to me) east river icebergs flowing by....dont think it ever happen again nor before in fab 27 years of NYC life
the hudson did and still does freeze over. ice breaking steel boats made channels for the ferry routes. this i found taking hoboken to the financial center via ferry several years. 89-94 say. not every year for sure but often enough.

That's the storm that also had lightning and thunder. I was working at a sound stage on the west side and saw dump trucks dumping snow into the Hudson all day for days.
