bill, tom, steve how was the concert--i had to run i felt it would have been rude to leave during show and i had been there a bit and neede to work at home
The concert was nice. All the songs were from Marianne's new CD, except the encore, a new piece she dedicated to "this stupid boy." All the songs were played on her Concertmate keyboard, except a couple on the acoustic piano and one on the harmonium. I was glad she did a long set; the evening had been pretty random up to that point. Lots of people with video cameras who weren't sure where to point them.
MN has just graduated highschool and has already written and recorded 3 and a half (70 min) CD's worth of material and 80 % of it is excellent. She may never play the Garden but Joes Pub isn't out of the question. The proformance was free this time and about twice as full as most her shows. I wish her the best success and remain a dedicated Fan. Strangely her core fanbase is a bunch of aging male prog-rockers. Then there's the Tigerbeat thing
Dear Marianne,
We haven't met, but my name is Buzz (no last name--just Buzz) and I'm a freelance talent rep. I saw your photo in Tiger Beat and did a quadruple take. Surely, I said to myself, this IS the face of the '00s! Like a super-badass, freakeristic Reese Witherspoon, and I don't mean that as a putdown, Reese is gorgeous and you're even more so! I know it sounds like a cliche, but I wanna make ya a star, baby! I bought your CD and I thought, pretty good, a little weird, but we can edit it and get a great backup band, no problem. It's all about image, and you got it, baby, you got it!
If you ask around the music industry, I think you'll find I'm very highly regarded; to be blunt, many musicians would kill for an email like this from me. Pardon me for being so forward, but we have GOT to do lunch, and the sooner the better! Best, Buzz
