bill look out your window
my landlord just woke me up to get on the roof. i thought the house was falling down. im only getting one tv channel.
I can't believe I can get the web. I guess the pentagon was hit too. MB and Tony and I were on the roof after the first WTC hit. I was filming, but my battery ran out. As I ran down stairs for another I could hear the second one hit. Tony and MB saw it clearly. Crazy shit.
mike are you out there? lynn and i are at your apartment.is everyone okay?
I was watching cnn and noticed the wtc was on fire so I looked up and indeed it was. Then I saw the second plane hit and then one by one the towers fell down. They just vaporised. smoke is blowing due south and the void left behind is amazing. goodbye 83rd floor, hope my friends and favorite shop workers and ups man are ok.
I still have my "I survived the terror in the Towers" T-shirt from the last time. amazing to consider those building there one moment and gone the next. Now you see it now you don't. Now it is now it aint. I saw the explosion of the impack of the second airplane but not the aproach. They were supposed to have contact with a guy w/ a cell phone in the bathroom of the Pennsylvania air plane. he said "we're being Hijacked!" They kept him on the line for a half hour and then a large explosion and then silence. It's still billowing up smoke, grey then white then back to grey, so on..
We had to go to 94 and Park to pick up Theo. Took us a couple hours. Midtown is a mess. The east side is especially a mess. Everybody out in the streets wondering how they're going to get home. First National Guard units starting to show up. I don't recommend going anywhere except on foot. If anyone is in range come on by AKA tonight.
Glad everyone is ok. Glad Bill lost his job. IS everyone ok? Where is Alex, Steve, Tom, Rachael. Roll call.
This mornings sunrise revealed a couple of new smaller buildings that were previously hidden. We have now entered the third era on NYC life, the after part of : before, durring and after the WTC. The new, yet to be released Spiderman movie has sceens featuring a web suspended on the (what else ?) WTC. Pass the digital eraser. And all those obsolete postcards !
There are two blocks of Grove st here in JC that are pretty heavily muslim. Ibbie's flaffel did not open at all yesterday. This morning the guy who sold me my NY Times threw in a free roll of Tums. Very thoughtfull ! The strong north to south wind has shifted in our direction and ocasionally the stream of yellow grey smoke still coming from the crater gets inbetween us and the sun and the whole place turns a to a right spookie shade of shade. I hope they put it out soon. tum anyone?
Even at the other end of the country, the psychological impact is immense. I could see people driving slower, and actually recognizing the individuals in other cars. Strangers talk to each other. People are lined up at blood banks. Flags have appeared on houses and overpasses. A profound sadness is written on the faces of some. There's worry that this is the opening volley of a long and bloody war.
I've spent a long time looking at the series of photos I took from Bill's window last year.
My old neighbors @ wtc are ok. Min answered my e.mail from China, she has been there since late August. She told me Nancy Le was running late and saw the building fall. I am heartened by the news from Union square. As new yorkers it is so important not to allow retribution into our emotional portfolio. We must follow a peacefull path. The Green party is in place, Salon and The Nation all are supportiung rational aproaches. Charlie Rose rings level headed as well. Bush sounds so scribed and keeps striking that one note (how you say) war, vengence (Idunnknow). peace-out

unbelievable damage on the north side. its one of those surreal days when everyone is standing on rooftops pointing. people are streaming uptown on foot, crying on shoulders and into cellphones. welcome to the middle east. sounds like we are at war.

my cellphone doesnt seem to work....they just said on the news that people were jumping from the wtc to avoid the flames. not a very fun choice...just got back. i was standing on the westside highway at canal when the building came down. it was unbelievable. sank in about 10 seconds.

I saw the second come down. Have it on tape, I think, although that doesn't seem very important. MB and Tony saw the second plane hit ("What's that other plane doing? It's so close?")

I've talked with everyone except Tom Moody, but I don't think he is even in the city.

Ok, yeah, I see Steve and Alex checked in at your page. What about it Bill? Is Tom in Jersey? Strange Days, 911.

Hi everyone. I went over to Bill's this morning and saw the second tower collapse. It was like it just melted, or dissolved, right in front of our eyes. Awful.

I guess that's everyone accounted for. Except the 30 or 40k at the site.
Reporting from the blue collar world I've already heard a fair amount of "sand nigger" bashing. I guess I'll keep that part of my blood line under check for a while. But my people were Lebanese Mennonite Christians I'll say while my co-workers bash in my skull with a rock.
Others favor blowing up any country where Osama bin Laden has ever rested his head. Maybe it is our destiny to play into the hands of the Terrorists.
Hearts out to the families of the victims. And my boy Hamid, trim carpenter, Iranian Muslim, keep your head down. Remember our treatment of the Japanese Americans.
