it was probably jamaica high school. he lived in what they called the 4th ward on delap place which no longer exists but i found it on an nypl map. a lot of the street names have been changed to numbers but it was just south of hillside avenue. i think its 88th ave beween merrick blvd and 168 st.
if it was jamaica high which was only a couple of blocks away, and i think he taught history there later, also my mother and aunt went there, he would have been in the same class as paul bowles.
