Portland based artist/musician Mike King did the cover for Is This Real, the first Wipers album.
Here is a sample of his work for other musical outfits. I'm not sure how much of the work is actually collaborative between King and partner Gary Houston, I suspect that in most cases only one artist designs any indivudual poster. There are only two Butthole Surfers posters (very nice) in the listing but I know King did at least three. The bands range from Smegma to Phil Lesh and Dylan.
I like the Uncle Ben poster, which might seem racist, but he’s serving up a big bowl of Blue-tail Fly, bane of the White Man, as told in Jimmy Crack Corn. Here’s a typical version, but I kind of like this one, which is full of birds. (And along the way, I found out what a Cracker is. Moving to Florida, anyone?)
re cracker : I am familar w/ version no. 3 and it is applied to Georgia and N. Florida. Skinnard and Molly Hatchet both had cracker blood lines (from Jacksonville and Daytona Beach respectively).
