If you’re talking about a Ring-necked Pheasant, it’s no big deal. Maybe a little south of the expected range, but Pheasants are non-native Asian birds that were introduced here for hunting. They’ve become naturalized, but many birds continue to be released each year, so it’s hard to know how “natural” a given one might be, and they can turn up just about anywhere. I see them in Central Park occasionally, but a bigger surprise was a Chukar I saw there a few weeks ago. They have a similar history, but the only breeding populations are out west, so this bird had to be assumed as a release, and is therefore “uncountable” in birdwatcher parlance.
