I was in Canada recently and they happily took US currency, then gave back more in change than I was spending. Funny thing, though: you couldn't give theirs away on the US side of the border.
My current currency favorites are the state quarters for South Carolina, featuring the Carolina Wren (check out the cool song; I hear it in the Park a lot, lately), and Connecticut, with the Treaty Oak. Even in the 21st Century, shamanic totem identification with the natural world is going strong (now if we'd just quit destroying those trees and birds…).
