There were at least 5 Wilson’s Snipe at Calvert Vaux Park on 4/5/09.
Maybe they had flown in against the strong winds, as they were more concerned with feeding than hiding. Usually they are quite hard to see, but these spent time in the open, including one that was feeding on an open field until it was chased off by a crow. More often it’s like the picture below…
There are two Snipe in this view (like cannon and thrips, snipe is both singular and plural, and very sneaky.)
