Alex, I've forgotten if you knew his band/work in the Detroit days?
I saw that 1st metro show. Instant hit. I met DAM sax man Ben miller through the dagley bortz art salon in jc. Bummer is right.
No Detroit connection; I didn’t even realize he was in Destroy All Monsters. They were the preceding generation of Detroit punk/new wave bands; he left for LA about the same time I left for school in NY while some friends remaining in Detroit started the Algebra Mothers. When I was back in Detroit 80-84 DAM was a semi-legendary name around town, but I never saw them. I did like some of his art work, and the way he linked the art world and indie rock scene in the late 80s-early 90s. Sad, him and Don Cornelius…
