As strange as it sounds to me, Linda and I are celebrating our tenth wedding anno, 6 weeks from today in New Orleans...after weeks of research we have picked Peristyle for the dinner but are looking as much or more forward to Uglesich's for lunch...Jim Louis we hope to see you for a meal or drinks while we are there, and are open to any food/music/etc news you may wish to share.....
we went to dooky chase a couple of years back. it funky funky but chic and way in the hood
also felix's in the 1/4 is a good place for a fried oyster po-boy for quicky lunch, best w/ jax beer also acme across the street is supposed to be just as good but i've only been to felix's
Thanks, Acme is on our list and we will add Dooky Chase...What about Drago's out of the city??
i've seen some great shows at the funky butt (on the edge of the quarter).
i always go to mandina's when i'm there
we'll check 'em out. i remember some fun shows at a dive outside of town a long time ago - i'm thinking it was ruby's. anyone been there recently?
that schedule desnt look promising / maybe youll luck out and mr quintron will be playing somewhere
"He was named “Entertainer of the Year” by Donnie Burnside, owner of Burnside Furniture Outlet in Big Rapids, Michigan, after seeing one of the regular tours Quintron makes throughout the United States and Europe."
Thanks both look great!!
Great, will look forward to your visit/anniversary. I'll leave my number in the core so call me when you get here for sure, or anytime prior if I can be of assistance.
Peristyle I only know by reputation, supposedly good. Considering your experience I would be most curious of your ratings for area eateries. I don't eat out enough to offer much help right off the top of my head, but Uglesich's for sure is best dining in a dive. Specializing in oyster dishes. Not too many tables inside, and just a couple on the sidewalk. There was recent talk that he might shut down, he's tired, so I hope that's not the case when you get here. If I hear of, or think of any place that might be worth your consideration, I'll write it down. Of course there's all the Quarter mainstays like Arnaud's, Antoine's, Brennan's (or any of the ten Brennan restaurants around town, i.e., Commander's Palace) Court of Two Sister's, Galatoire's, and then there's Pascales Manale, uptown, on Napolean, which offers an amazing New Orleans style barbecued shrimp served head on in big bowl of garlic broth that will rock your world. I mean, I don't know, how long you staying?, there's a bunch of places you should try.
Also, I don't know what day Carnival (Mardi Gras) starts this year, as it revovles around that pagan formula I can never remember, but six weeks from now would often be near the start of it. And I don't know if local crawfish farmers are delivering product quite that early, but if they are you would pretty much have to fit in time and stomach space for that.
looking forward to seeing you and dinner is on us bro,
mardi gras is March 4, but we see one of the first parade's on Saturday before we leave.....
I did not actually click on that "parade" link but by implication of the address bar at the bottom of my screen, that's Krewe du Vieux, a good one, only parade actually in the Quarter, specializing in irreverant humor. Ya'll gonna have fun. Linda posted the dates on the other page. Valentines weekend in New Orleans, good call. For sure I'll let you buy me some food, maybe Saturday lunch or something, whatever works for you guys. Please feel free to call, or post, if there's any way I can assist before, during, or after your visit.
great, we'll see you than
