bbq
all i can say is holy fuckin shit... thank you, linda brown- Lucio DB
shameless commercial plug:
i just got mail-order, frozen pulled pork from Corky's BBQ in Memphis as a birthday present.
know what? pulled pork freezes very, very well. kicked the living ass off nyc 'cue.
bad news: it's frickin' 89 bucks for 6 pounds. i got a sampler that also has ribs. i haven't tasted them yet. but basically there's no way they're better than the pulled pork (i mean, it says right there on the website that the ribs are smoked for only seven hours, but the pulled pork is smoked for TWENTY-TWO.
shit.
guess maybe after years of thinking about it, it's finally time to try ordering some brisket from the Salt Lick (Texas' finest, IMNSHO (although the links from Luling City Market are pretty special, too)).
the bbq was so ridiculously crowded sunday afternoon (wait in line for tickets and then wait in line for food) that we didn't even stay to eat. maybe this will be less crowded.
Do you know about the Lee Brothers (I think a cookbook is coming soon)? While they don't offer meats, seems like they have the condiments. (I have to admit to never having tried a boiled peanut?!?)
yah, my parents order boiled peanuts from somewhere south. i haven't tried them but skinny loves 'em.
We did not have them in Texas. I have never heard of slurping a softened peanut from the shell before today.
Prune often does boiled peanuts. Yum.
really? yum? huh. I am going to have to order up some (or go to prune). sounds like one of those things people call an 'acquired' taste.
Nah. If you like peanuts you'll like them boiled. It won't change your life or anything though.
