Calls to the restaurant confirm that unfortunately located but ultimately charming restaurant Centovini will close after three years on West Houston. Centered on a expansive wine collection and Italian small plates, Centovini is owned by the founder of neighboring store and design inspiration Moss—which is why many passersby may have confused it for a furniture store—and the owners of I Trulli on East 27th. Though it indeed won some design awards, was frequented be celebs here and there, and earned some positive reviews from the press—Bruni had a love/hate relationship with the place—it just wasn't in the cards. A rep says they will close after service on Saturday night.
Oh man. I'm seriously worried about Moss. We're getting the run around on some stuff we ordered almost a year ago. I hope this doesn't mean the whole empire is about to crumble.
I only ate there once, but it was very good I thought. Agreed about the unfortunate location. Being right on Houston just isn't sexy.

For those who were holding off until next week to bid farewell to Bedford Ave. trailblazer Bonita, tough luck. Kings of Williamsburg and owners of the Diner/Marlow & Sons/Bonita/Marlow & Daughters Empire Andrew Tarlow and Mark Firth have closed up shop two weeks earlier than expected. As usual, employees at the sister restaurants are tight-lipped about why the sudden shutter, chalking it up to "a variety of reasons that I can't elaborate on now." Expect a new banh mi shop or fro-yo place to open in the space by summer's end.
((this i know is due to rent increase))
Someone's trying to raise a commercial real estate rent? Bwahahahaha!
im not a moss fan. cant quite put my finger on it. (pretentious f#ck)
