jim, i noticed you took "music" off the dmt taskbar which is fine but there should be a link to it on the musicblog page.

also, is there any way to make some posts on the page for the subscription-only crew while opening the page up to whomever otherwise? sort of hidden links.

also i nominate dying in stereo as the name for the music blog. all in favor? all opposed?

dying in stereo is good.

Not sure what you mean by hidden links. Do you just mean a public page that isn't listed on the front page (so anyone could read it - assuming they knew where it was - but only members could post?) That is possible right now. But maybe you mean something different.

no, i meant a public page that could have some posts that are private such as those with links to our (unused) cache of mp3s but all the other posts would be public. if it were possible, it wouldnt be a bad addition to all the pages. there would be a check box which would "privatize" the post for subscribers only.

Right. Got it.

You used to be able to do this, but it was stripped out long ago in one of my many attempts to streamline everything. (Also, no one ever used it.)

I guess I don't think the complication this adds is worth the advantage it brings, since you can already post to just members on any of the private pages, or you could make your own new private page with just the members you want having access.

Or, in other words, I like having the page be the atomic unit in terms of security (rather than bumping it down to the individual post level.) This greatly simplifies the security model. Probably not a compelling reason for you, but in terms of development I need to keep things as easy as possible.

But I'm open to the case being made. There'd have to be a real need though.
