Anybody have good or bad experiences with specific brands of dishwashers, refrigerators, stoves, and/or washing machines?
we just got all kitchen aid appliances and we are very happy. i would not buy another fridge with two fridge doors on top (freezer on bottom), bc you open one side and inevitably what you need is on the other side, so it's lots of doors opening. then there's a drawer that goes the width of the unit, and to open that you have to open both doors. a minor annoyance. plus kids can't really access stuff bc the fridge is high. that might be a good thing with a small toddler, but when you want them to fetch you something, not so helpful.
Dishwasher: Kitchenaid. Range: Bosch with Combo convection/gas Oven. Washer/Dryer: Bosch. Over Range Microwave/Convection Oven: Kitchenaid. I chose all of them as very good alternatives to top of the line offerings. Lots of the same features but less expensive. The over range oven is used mostly as a second (smaller) conventional oven. I agree about the over/under fridge (freezer below), but I spent money for my SubZero.
I think you def want a decent oven, one that holds temp well and is able to tell you when your desired pre-heat temp is reached(ie the red light will shut off). The higher end appliances are more expensive to fix with only select service providers able to buy parts(something I unfortunately recently learned). And why is it that both my oven and refrig broke right after the 6 year warranty? So an extended warranty might be worth it even though I never ever buy those. I do like my viking oven though. A note on the cooktop...look to see where the burners are placed. some have the two biggest ones front and back which makes it difficult to use both at the same time. Also a QUIET refridg is a bonus especially in small spaces. Happy Shopping!
