a couple from wired news on past subjects -- the space elevator and nuclear powers role in future space exploration. gotta think that the elevator would become the ultimate target for terrorism.

just turned on a new dmtree weblog for postings relating to alternative energy called REgenerate. im sure it will be as well received as the ingeniously entitled music blog.
"AUBURN HILLS, Mich. –– Volkswagen has announced the first long-range test drive of its innovative HY.POWER fuel-cell car. On the same mountainous journey, Volkswagen also successfully tested a high-tech Jetta Turbo Direct Injection diesel using a super-clean synthetic diesel called SunFuel®. SunFuel is a non-traditional low-sulfur fuel that can be made from renewable sources such as plants, waste products and other raw materials."

Weird. In the Jan 27th New Yorker, on page 70, there is a detail from the painting Hi by Michael Bevilacqua (this is at the start of the story Jon by George Saunders.) Clearly visible in the painting is Marybeth's El Teddy's logo.

No, there's no purpose to this post except to note that it's weird to see your stuff recycled and reflected back at you.

Anybody know anything about this guy?
Oh God, the Space Shuttle Columbia has blown up on reentry. My heart sank to my stomach when the picture came on TV. Seven people on board. It seems so awful, and here we are preparing for war, where we are asked to accept death on a massive scale and just, you know, go with it...

Kai 2: Had the Omakase menu, chefs seasonal.....there were some strong high's and no lows, in ways it was better than the Iron Goddess menu and some ways equal....rare raw fish from southern Japan, amazing raw shrimps apeared twice, mushroom and winter eel were througout the meal, the desserts, starter, tofu were amazing again, noodles were the best I have ever had, steak again divine.....wine list has many more choises and we found a couple but lucky for my wallet, as I had bizz 5 guests, they let me bring 6 bottles....place was packed....going back in summer when fish is abound in Japan....

funny. wyliewatch at ls.com. youd think the tree would be well positioned to have insights into this burning question but i dont even think wylie would venture a guess at this point.

were all invited to the opening though, right? (cue the crickets)
this is an interesting article on 3g technology.

Spain 2003: We did a quick 7 day hard blast across North Spain, the Eastern coastal seafood is not happy (and neither am I) but we did pluck some oysters out of an area that has strong rivers flowing into the bay so oil has come nowhere near them, scary fresh stuff.......We dined mostly at local spots, places that specialized in one type of food, we BYOB'd alot and drank well (mostly old Rioja back to 1947).....2001 will be monumental for Spain overall in wine....
