He became last week the public face of the practice, which originated in India with the teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. At a press conference in New York's plush Plaza hotel, Lynch launched a $1 billion fundraising campaign to build 100 'peace palaces' across America, part of a plan for 3,000 buildings across the globe, one in each major city. Inside the palaces up to 300 devotees will spend their time meditating and 'yogic flying', which practitioners say is a form of levitation. Once the peace palaces are up and running - the theory goes - war, violence and crime will come to an end.

i have been not so good lately after by pit bull attack, leg is healing, the antibiotics flushed my system but I have been eating more and not riding my bike, yummy meal at tasting room followed by snacks at shillers (after many wines at wd~50).....bao noodles nite was delish again....finally went to Grand Sichuan East (uptown) VERY HOT but taste-E and different, worth the trek but my heart stays with 51st......had the best lunch this year at Wash Park, roasted Capon!!!
"The wounded get dumped at home and soon forgotten. But you're right about the antiseptic nature of coverage. There was a story by Dana Milbank recently in the Washington Post that the Pentagon is not going to allow news coverage and photography of dead soldiers' homecoming on military bases. Show 'em marching off to war but make damned sure we don't see 'em coming back in pieces. It's the Barbara Bush syndrome as official policy. Remember what she told Diane Sawyer earlier this year. "Why should we hear about body bags, and deaths … Why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that …" No wonder her son is the only president in our time who has not attended any memorials or funerals for soldiers killed in action on his watch."

STEVEN PARRINO THE NO TEXTS Launch Party at ISSUE PROJECT ROOM When:  FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31 Time:  7:00 pm Where: 619 E. 6th Street (between B / C) NYC Door:  Free Please join Abaton Book Company at ISSUE Project Room October 31st, 7pm, for the launch of Steven Parrino's The No Texts. The book release party will feature an implosive performance by Parrino's band, Electrophilia. Started in 1997 as a solo project to create a resistant and uncompromised music, Electrophilia is now a duo, with Steven Parrino on bass guitar and Jutta Koether on synthesizer. Since the late 1970s, Steven Parrino has been exploring "The Death of Painting" through a number of signature gestures, most notably his mis-stretching of the monochrome canvas. While Parrino's aesthetic is directly related to the nihilism and aggression of No Wave, Punk Rock, and B-movies, it has also been heavily influenced by such varied artists as Frank Stella and Andy Warhol. With The No Texts, Parrino presents an apocalyptic wonderland of despair, compassion and humorous hopelessness. His writings and commentary from 1979 - 2003 (among them "Blow Job," "False-Face Tries To Annihilate The World" and "Toward Expanding The Post-Modern") chart a highly opinionated course through his own artistic productions, be they visual or musical. Home Home on the Grange

Stop #1: inoteca, cant believe how tasty the egg truffle toast on asparagus is for $7, i picked a rose of niederra, scary good with a'gus

Stop #2: wd~50, went for a beer, these folks are wine cool, but my body said beer, new rabbit app yahoo, new soup (in this issue of NY Mag) yahoo, two new "taste's" get yahoo delux. one was a rouget, green (gran-e?) apple, lentil, apple foam? with nori, and soy caramel, what was amazing to me was this light vaporish heat that the combo gave off (cool and cooled by the stout beer), it was from the fish which is cayanne?? treated (i have been to cayanne!!, i need to get back to the amazon), great snack (meal) topped off with a coco choc de safron:>)

Stop #3: Wash Park, couple of fun wines (inc an awesome 90 Sangiovese, a suprise), a customer showed up, we shared the salmon caviar pepper pancake app, very fine dish.

Last Stop: Sample in Brooklyn, I wanted to laugh out (yes i'm drunk), and for no?? good reason, this famous wine guy does the wine list yet the bartender doesnt know the wines, i get a Greek red and white in tumblers, order two app's and both come from cans, they were K-Rations for the gourmet set but comedy to me, after hard core delish food art at wd and simplistic bliss at inoteca what can i say but time for bed

good nite

NYTimes editorial subhead: "The return of riders to the Staten Island ferry on Thursday morning was a testament to the resilience of Staten Islanders." I guess that's true if by resilient they mean "broke," "overextended," and/or "working for heartless employers." (As many people are these days--hello? NYTimes?)
