ive never liked kobe more than i do knowing he is anti-flop. also watching lebron and wade flop incessantly makes me think the heat need to swap names with the miami marlins.

The only downside to meditation is that it takes a little time out of the day. I've been going to some workshops with a professor of psychology at OSU, so many studies on meditators and effects of meditating these days. One day hopefully we'll be teaching this in public schools.

If 2011 was the year of the French New Wave, 2012 is shaping up as the Mexican revolution. As Christopher Israel readies to open his anticipated, high-low seafood-centric Corazon on May 10 (1205 SW Washington St), another plan is shaping up to send Mexican food in a fresh direction. Eat Beat has learned that Kelly Myers, Nostrana’s respected chef de cuisine and a farmer’s market insider, will head up the kitchen at Xico on 3715 SE Division St
Hokusei, set to debut this week, is one such eatery set to prioritize the best of Oregon’s bounty. The restaurant’s name—pronounced ho-ku-say—means Northwest in Japanese, and reflects Executive Chef Kaoru Ishii’s efforts to craft traditional Japanese dishes with seasonal offerings from regional farms, ranches, and rivers. The Tokyo native has gathered over two decades of experience perfecting his own take on Japanese cuisine at restaurants around the world, including top kitchens in Japan, Los Angeles (Malibu’s Nobu and Beverly Hill’s Matsuhisa) and San Fransisco (Okuma).
now, if you want a great name and an even greater goal, look no further than Papiss Cissé.
That uncertain feeling was on Tcm recently. Pretty good for the eccentric pianist played by burgess meredith. 1941.

Retro backspin. I had no idea that the treason committed by the Reagan's 1980 campaign had a precedent with the Nixon campaign in 1968.
I didn't think it possible for my opinion of Nixon to go any lower. I was wrong.

Via Greenfield. I don't know if I would call this event a "Black Swan" so much as plain, old treachery.
ran across fangsbites today which focuses on the intersection of sports and television. what caught my attention today were the numbers for espns coverage of the nfl draft. much to my dismay, the three day event averaged about 3 million viewers. by comparison, mad men averages about 2.5 million per episode these days. but what i found interesting that four of the top ten markets for the draft were in ohio. now cleveland did have the third pick in the draft and the first two picks were already announced prior to the draft so it makes sense to some degree but its still surprising that one state would be so football crazed. maybe thats just a function of having two teams whose losing ways have driven their fans to the brink of insanity.

The top 10 metered markets for the combined three days of ESPN coverage included: Cleveland (5.0 rating), Dayton, Ohio (4.3), Birmingham, Ala., (3.9), Milwaukee (3.6), Kansas City (3.6), New Orleans (3.4), Jacksonville, Fla., (3.3), Columbus, Ohio (3.3), Charlotte, N.C., (3.2) and Cincinnati (3.2).

just in case you were wondering, here are the top five cable programs of 2011.

Top cable shows - Average viewers (millions) Jersey Shore (MTV) 9.3 The Walking Dead (AMC) 8.9 Rizzoli & Isles (TNT) 8.1 The Closer (TNT) 8.1 Pawn Stars (History) 7.0

took the weekend off from soccer so i could focus on the knicks collapsing in round one of the nba playoffs but now im back for the game of the week, this afternoon's matchup between manchester city and manchester united. man city is essentially one game behind man u for the lead in the premier league with three matches to go. so anything short of a win will all but clinch for united.

bumped up to espn proper at 3pm est.
