In 2023, women made up 80 per cent of the book-buying market in the UK, US, and Canada, and accounted for 65 per cent of all fiction purchases in the UK according to Nielsen BookData

amazing what a cretin this guy is. and we were so close.... well, nevermind.

guess im gonna be watching some olympics. woke up brain dead needing a distraction. curious what was available not on peacock. the glory days of free streams on the net seems over or maybe i just havent found them yet. does peacock have ads? they must. forgot how much of that one endures. but no sound, just a big blue pool and some lines slicing though them with the occasional flag graphic looking as if it is being tugged in the swimmers wake.

are we winning? are we winning?

finally swung back around to season 5 of fargo. worth the wait. tires are spinning in the snow a bit as i head into the final three eps but all in all no complaints.

and coincidentally or not, one of the characters is fond of calling people shitbirds. now what are the chances?

good pod.

On the Final Edition, Bryan welcomes Alex Thompson, a national political correspondent for Axios. They kick off the show by discussing coverage of the last two weeks, which included President Joe Biden dropping out of the race (1:14). Then he gets into the current relationship between Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris (16:24), the relationship between Biden and Barack Obama over the past few weeks (27:26), and what it will look like covering Harris now (32:14)

the paris olympics got wood.

Watching Soylent Green (73) and Walkabout (71) in the same evening back and forth...........

I didn't know that JD Vance is a Tolkien fan, though it seems Rachel Maddow is aware.

I did know Stephen Colbert is another big nerd; not sure what that says about conservative conspiracy theories, but is reflective of how multi-facted good art can be. In the '60's LOTR was beloved by the counter culture, and now by the new right. Nobody's right if everybody's wrong, and vice versa. For his part, Tolkien staunchly denied any metaphorical intent.
