We just got our first can of Lyles Golden Syrup. I don't see the point of misdirecting the path of this stuff to the mouth by way of anything but a spoon.
FINAL SHOW AT ABC NO RIO?
Remember ABC No Rio, the Lower East Side collective and exhibition space that got its start by taking over a long-vacant Delancey Street storefront and mounting the "Real Estate Show" in 1980? Well, the ABC No Rio tenement at 156 Rivington Street is about to be disassembled, brick-by-brick -- to prepare the way for the construction of a new $4.5 million "green" art facility on the site.
In the meantime, ABC No Rio is mounting its final building-wide exhibition, "ABC No Rio’s Ides of March," Mar. 19-Apr. 9, 2002, featuring works by 50 artists on all four floors. Participants range from Cesar Arredondo, Fabian Berenbau, Doris Cacoilo and Kevin Caplicki to Vydavy Sindikat, Carol Warner and the Z Collective -- as well a handful of the original founders, including Rebecca Howland and Alan Moore.
"Long has Jesse Bransford been gleaning archaic and peripheral cultures for their icons, signs, and remnants of their deep, in search of being privy to the cosmic passage of the essence that endures, and sharing it. One such recent investigation has been that of the psychotropic ayahuasca experience as guided by Norma, an Amazonian curandero (healer, shaman). The culture, plant(s) and their properties, as well as the experiences and its repercussions are chronicled in these recent works on paper."

Food suggestions from the past week.
Sunshine Market in St. Helena. Tiny market, very well stocked. 20k+ products, 2k+ suppliers.
Go Fish and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen in St. Helena. Owned by Cindy Pawlcyn of Mustards. Go Fish is larger, more upscale. Raw bar, sushi bar, an regular kitchen. Had a very nice sole from CA North Coast. Backstreet Kitchen smaller, more informal. Had a braised rabbit tostada. Mmm.
Bouchon Bistro -- Owned by Thomas Keller (French Laundry).
Spending the morning here w/ crinkled brow and mounting frustration, realizing I need a show in Paris so I can go to this place....Anyone want to come...? Looks awesome-

I'm looking for DMT10 recipes, and only found a couple. Where they hiding? In particular, I need the carbonara if it's available. I'm going to steal it for a meal on Friday. If it's not available, it should be easy to find something on the interwebs.
I guess pancetta should be my choice of protein. Guanciale may be a bit hard to procure.
couple of obvious jokes but pretty funny opening monologue.
anybody heard anything good about vudu? an early adaptor friend is into it.
Venison sous vide for the second time in a week. This time at Masa's. This could be habit forming.
Following a surprise $7 million donation left to Lake Forest College by 1931 alumnus and "secret millionaire" Grace Groner, many are wondering about the generous woman who lived so modestly in one of the richest Chicago suburbs.
Groner worked as a secretary at Abbott Laboratories for 43 years--where she made a $180 stock purchase in 1935, the Chicago Tribune reports. She reinvested the dividends over the years, and at the time of her death--at the age of 100--it was worth $7 million.
Groner's lawyer was one of the few people who knew about her fortune, the Tribune reports:
She lived in an apartment for many years before a friend willed her a tiny house in a part of town once reserved for the servants. Its single bedroom could barely accommodate a twin bed and dresser; its living room was undoubtedly smaller than many Lake Forest closets.
